Starry Flounder versus the Seagull

Discussion in 'Birds' started by Louis Champan, Jul 9, 2018.

  1. Spent the Holiday week at the ocean, with the amount of people and fireworks going off I was quite surprised to find much of anything out on the beach. But on my first morning's drive I saw a lot of bird activity not far off shore with gulls, pelicans and a few eagles swarming overhead. It looked to be a school of these flounders in the shallow water and the birds were making the best of it. These shots are only a few shots of what I saw, I followed one seagull that caught the flounder lost it to another and then gain it back and lost it again.

Excellent set, Louie! #2 is stunning! That 200-500 does really well in your hands!

Nice series. That flounder was probably a waste on that seagull. It would have been much better stuffed and broiled with some lemon.

Bird looks proud in #3, strutting off with it's catch.
  9. Louie looks like you had another great trip to the ocean. Very well done.
  10. Thanks Nick.

    Thank you Andreas.

    Appreciate your comments Mike, thanks.

    Thanks very much.

    Thanks Allan.

Thanks Karen, I do like the 200-500 and if you're careful it will do a great job for you.

    Nice break from eagles.
  14. Thanks for commenting.

Thanks Rick, he was indeed doing some strutting until he lost the flounder.

    Thanks very much Jim.

    Many thanks.

I'll take that as a compliment West, thanks.

If you see the gap in the flounder caused by the bill, you know why you should have respect of gulls...

    Great series
