Was there this week and, oh boy...seemed like every school aged child in the NY education system took a field trip to the Statue of Liberty on the day my friend and I decided to visit!! All that noise and chatter!!

That being said, you were spot on regarding procedures, Chris - my friend and I ended up with reserve tickets which allowed us on the grounds of the S. of L. but not into the monument or the crown. The reserve tickets allowed us to bypass the regular line and directly board the ferry. Those without reserve tickets were told they had an 1.5 hour wait in line before they were able to purchase a regular ticket and then they had to wait in another line to board the ferry.

Once on the island, though, the views were great and you also get a very nice view of the NYC skyline, and Ellis Island was fantastic!

That's some good add'l info...boy, I can't imagine waiting 1.5 hours just to get through security, esp w/ little kids on a hot afternoon, and inside that tent after security....
