Strange Phenomenon

  1. And it's all down, no doubt, to "internal focusing" since both lenses do it. :biggrin:

    I've just been comparing my 18-70 kit lens with a friend's 17-55 I am considering buying since he's gone FX. I was testing them indoors when I noticed the 18-70 at 18mm seemed to be wider than the 17-55 at 17mm. Then I took some shots outside and guess what? The 17-55 is now wider than the 18-70.

    Looks like the 18-70 shortens its focal length more than the 17-55 when focusing close in.

    The 18-70 doesn't lose out by far in the tests in general !
