Cold and foggy and some birds I typically don't come across on the oceans edge on Plum Island?

Wasn't even anything dead around as far as I could see.

Personally, I think that they are kinda neat birds and extremely magestic flyers.

  2. Jim in your hands they are fine looking birds. You really brought out the detail in them. You have more than done them justice. I was lucky a few years back to see the California Condors flying near Big Sur. Wow what a treat it was.

  7. Hi, Jim

Glad to see you out and shooting. This may be weird, but I think I found the same bird on my shoot yesterday on the shores of the SF Bay. Around here we call them turkey vultures. I was pretty surprised to see them basking by the bay. What do you think? Is this the same bird?

    Re West Coast Turkey Vultures

I think that the West Coast birds aren't quite as attractive as the East Coast ones?

Hey, you found my buds Jim.

Seriously, these guys are hard to expose well, especially in poor light. They may be ugly, but hey, a bird is a bird, right? Good job.

    Ugly birds?

They are very, very smart...very efficient in both their means of feeding and flight...their heads have no feathers for a reason and I think they are beautiful :)
