I couldn't quite figure it out as I was standing there freezing my butt off inn the rain...I kept hearing but I couldn't see.

It wasn't until I got home that I finally figured it out!

Ah, so those 'horns' sticking up are an owl's who just snacked down the heron's babies (or eggs?)

Ya know what photo-accessory I've wanted for years? A cherry-picker truck.

I'm going to do something I rarely do and boast - I spotted the owl quickly.

Heyyyyyy, I'm allowed to be right once a year and I just used up my entire allotment.

The heron parent certainly looks distraught.

Poor thing, life is tough out there in ol' Mother Nature. I'm surprised the heron doesn't have a go at the owl - that beak could skewer in a heartbeat.

Hi Jim

There could actually be a second owl that is very oof, but I am not sure. I would back an owl against a heron any day despite the bill on the heron. The owl would be much more manoeverable
