I am sure there will be many more from me in the future.

Does the DOF change when using the crop mode of the D2x?

Shooting a macro of a flower where DOF is more important than file resolution.

I may have answered this myself.

Lets say I am in full mode with a 60mm micro at f16 and 4 inches away from the subject the DOF is .03 inches.

Now I switch to crop mode and to fill the crop frame I have to be 6 inches away and now the DOF is .1 inches. I am guessing at the distance needed to fill the frame.

Am I right or have I lost what little I had left of my mind?

But hasn't the DOF changed because you moved closer? If the distance from the subject remains the same, I don't think it should be different in the crop mode.

DOF shouldn't change unless the distance or apature changes given the same focal length. So yes, it will change if you change crop mode and change distance to "fill the frame". My 2 cents

    Greg and John,

You are both correct. DOF does not change because of crop mode. It does change when you have to move to fill the crop though.
