It is Spring downunder and the Native Orchids are flourishing, particularly the Sun Orchids. For it to be a great day of seeing and photographing Sun Orchids they like sun, also the ambient temperature needs to be 21DegC or above for them to open fully. Some colours will open below 20DegC, but the majority are above.

#1 Great Sun Orchid (Thelymitra aristata) The first four images show the variety of colours the same orchids can be even when they are near to each other

I missed these earlier. I think others did, too. Many of us were bogged down with Oktoberfest and missed a lot of great posts. These are so lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed viewing them!

Absolutely beautiful Richard. I'm ashamed to say that I've visited Australia quite a few times over the years, although not for 15 years now, including at Spring time, and I never saw these or anything like them. Really nice to see them now.

Thank you Terri, I'm glad you like them

Thank you Ron. Don't worry, most people wandering through the reserves don't notice them, even when they are right at their feet. Many of the orchids are quite small and I guess exercise and talking are more on their minds. When they see us taking photos many do take an interest.

Thank you Wade
