Spent Sunday at the local track. 14 classes, 28 motos. I used my SB 600 on most shots, but not on the big tabletop jump, or the starts. It gave a nice 'punch' to the colors. All with D300 and 80-200.

Nice shots Jim. I never thought to use a flash on MX.

I love hole shots like #13 when theyre fighting for position at the first turn.

    Thanks, John.

Thanks, Biggs. Most of the 'magazine' shooters use flash. I wanted to see the difference.

Thanks, and welcome to the Cafe.

    Thanks, buddy.

I posted these on another forum, and a couple people thought they were oversharpened. Do they look that way here? I didn't do much in PP, but maybe my smugmug sharpness settings are too high?

    Thanks.

Very nice peak action Jim, the tight crops and beautiful colors look great. These don't look oversharpened to me. Love the eyes in #13.

    Nice work!

I use a flash 99% of the time on my outdoor motorsport photography - it really makes a difference

Thanks, Frank. #13 was one of my favorites, for that reason.

Thanks, Jeff. That tabletop jump is about 100 feet. (length)

    Thanks, George. Wildcat MX.

    Thanks, Jason.

I'm green when it comes to flash settings. I don't know if these were the best settings, but I used TTL BL, +.7.

Thanks, Dave. I'll be using mine more, now.
