    was looking at 50 1.2s...but..............

just got back from a local craigslist transaction

35.14 AiS..LNIB is an understatement, all original packing etc from original owner, HN3 hood

    24 2.8 Ai..same condtion with HN1 hood
    2 Nikon 52 mm filters
even the hoods and filters had boxes

I asked him if he had any other stuff
he had one other lens, a Soligar 21mm 3.8, with an F mount adapter

says it vignettes, not too sharp.."want it ?"...I'll give it to you

I tried and it actually works
might be cool for stormy weather..

    anyway
will post some pics eventually

price was good , real good...thats all I'll say...

Congratulations Frank. Fast nikkor AIS primes are the bomb. Since you got a great deal on these, that means you can still get the Nikkor 50 1.2 AIS, right? Have fun and good shooting.

  6. Not sure of the exact figures, but that 35/1.4 ais has gone up at least $100 in the last 3-4 weeks at KEH. FX format is apparently creating new demand.

I looked at one in a camera shop in Santa Fe a couple of weeks ago for $499 and thought it too high, but now I'm not so sure I should have passed.

AIS/AI stuff is great. I'm sure you'll enjoy some great shooting with them.

Sounds like you found yourself a bargain Frank, I look forward to seeing what you can do with these beauties.

Yeah I was kind of noticing this today. About 2 months ago I got my 50mm 1.8 E from KEH for around $40 or $50 now its double that! I always loved being able to pick up inexpensive old AI and AIS lenses and now they are going up in price :frown:

I made a post on this exact same thing (and this exact same lens) earlier... The price on new has gone up almost $200 (35 mm f/1.4 AIS) and the price on used in EX condition is as much as the grey market ... when you can find them.

I bought one for my husband from original owner LN except for about 3MM of peeling paint on it for $375... with hood.

it's a great feeling when you make a great deal on a lens, isn't it!?!?!?!

    I like the "more" statement

I am a firm believer that LLD can never be truly subdued, at least not forever

    a little satiated Francis

still have one in my sights

and I'm not sure about the 24mm
I really wanted a 20mm, as you know

had to buy it though, it is brand new
perhaps I will sell and get a 20mm of some kind, will see on that one

  19. The 20mm f/2.8 AI-S is supposed to be exceptional. Another Cafe member I know just got one and I think I'll have a chance to check it out and shoot with it a bit tomorrow. If I do I'll be sure to give you my input.

I understand completely! What did you think overall about the Sig 20? And that front element?
