Tamron 90mm macro v.s. Nikon 200 F4 Micro

Discussion in 'Lens Lust' started by draithby, May 1, 2005.

  1. Hi

I have the tamron macro, a very nice little lens.

recently i have got a line on a used nikon 200mm f4 micro.

I have read up on the posts on dpreview on the nikon.

Any thoughts here on how they compare?

Obviously i am getting a longer focal length which is nice when you don't want to be in your subjects nose when taking macro photos.

    How about the image quality?
  2. bump anybody have any ideas / experience with these lenses ?
  3. I have both of them and like them but I use mostly the 200, you just can't beat the working distance, and I like having the lens collar.

Its also a very nice 200 mm telephoto.

I llike that with the 6T added you get almost 2:1 and the 2x tc + tc you get 4:1 or just the 2x tc 2:1 and a huge working distance for 1:1
