Great shots guys! I sort of miss this lens since selling it and it's one of those lens I feel guilty for selling. I just wasn't digging it on the D600 for some odd reason and it was starting to collect dust

Tom, that bird shot is killer. Super sharp, nice detail and a nice looking bird. Is that some sort of Jay?

with the recent price drops I decided to purchase one - a big step up for me from the Nikon 70-300 ED which I was always disappointed with

So far I like it, this was one of my first "street" snaps

Love the IQ and composure.

I've never been disappointed by mine and hopefully you won't either.
Thanks

was down in our Botanic Gardens yesterday with the lens on. A blackbird popped up close by so I grabbed a quick snap. As the shutter clicked I thought it was a bit slow. Turns out it was a 1/15 second and the lens fully extended at 300mm.

I have to say for hand held the VC acted pretty good!

Auto ISO is great for general shooting. Shot looks good for hand held @300mm 1/15s.

Picked up a Tamron SP AF Tele-Converter 140F-FNs 1.4X for my 70-200mm f/2.8 VC but you know it works like a charm on the 70-300 so it looks like a winner on both!!!

Here is a shot with my D700 FX sensor at 70mm so it's at 70mm

Here is a shot with my D300 (1.5X crop DX camera) with the Tamron SP 1.4X teleconverter.
My math is 300mm X 1.4 teleconverter is 420mm X 1.5 crop sensor DX camera =630mm

Full auto focus with no hunting and fast instant lock.

Fantastic, especially when you consider most 300 f/5.6/1.4 combos will not even work!!!

Sunday morning, bright and sunny, in southeast Florida and the squirrels are on the loose - all 4 of them in our live oak tree making fun of me.

Nikon D300 and the Tamron SP 70-300 VC at 300mm.
