TC for 300mm/f4

    Now that I got the new lens, I am going to need a TC for it. What TC will I
    need for the AF to work?

    I use the Nikon TC14E II with my 300/4 all the time and don't have any trouble with the AF.

    According to Nikon, the TC17 and TC2 won't work with the 300/4. That's because the min aperture drops below f5.6. I haven't tried using them, but I think they will still work, but the AF performance will be reduced a good bit. They should work fine in bright light, but you will probably have trouble when the sun starts to go down.
  3. Which version is it? If it´s an AF-S then Nikon TCs work... if older AF model you´ll need a third party TC, for example Kenko pro 300...

    I use both the Kenko 1.4 and the Nikon 1.7 with no problems at all. It just focuses a little slower.

    My lense is a AF-S. Will Kenko or Nikon both work ?

  7. I've had very good results with the Nikkor TC14 and my 300/f4
  8. I have used and got good results with my Kenko 1.4 Teleplus 300 DG.

    Exif lens data also reflects it being 420mm.

    Here is an example.
