Football season is quickly approaching. I cannot afford a 300mm, but do have an 80-200 2.8 that serves me well. Is there a teleconverter that someone would recommend, or are they really worth it?

  2. Depends, If you have the Af-s version then I have had only great things with the TC14e. IF you have the AF-d version then I'm not sure.

  3. The Kenko 300 Pro series does extremely well with that lens....I use both the 1.4x and the 2.0x pretty extensively. The 80-200 w/1.4x essentially gives you a very sharp 300 f/4 lens (well, 280 but who's counting). The 2x should work at 5.6 but I find it looses about a half-stop more light than that. But it gives acceptably sharp phot0s for sports, effectively an f 6.3 400mm lens.

The automatic functions all work with these two convertors.
