When I saw Terri's photos of the many children in her extended family captured using her Nikon 50mm S lens, I bought one while it was on sale a year ago. Unfortunately, situations related to the pandemic prevented me from getting together with my young niece and nephews I intended to photograph using that lens. Finally, we were able to make that happen yesterday for the first time since I bought the lens and I thoroughly enjoyed using it. At f/1.8, it's more than 2 stops faster than my other lenses that I could use for photographing the children and that allows me to use smaller depths of field. Though I didn't take advantage of that capability when making the photo shown below, I used it a lot when making other photos that for a variety of reasons don't stand up to the quality of this one.
