Testshots with my 2nd 300 f4....

Discussion in 'Lens Lust' started by misupix, Apr 17, 2007.

  1. I received my 2nd AF-S 300 f4 today (this time new with Warranty). And this one seems to live up to the its reputation

(The first one was second hand from eBay and had severe focus and softness problems :frown: Fortunately the seller took it back)

These are the first test-shots from today:

.....I guess now I need....how is it called: a "better beamer"?

    any recommendations?

    As always, C&C welcome!
  2. Ah, that's more like it, Michael! This is the lens we all know and love! Great photos with it on your first time out!
  3. Are these taken by hand-holding?
  4. Flowers where handheld, for the birds I used a monopod, 1.4xTC + SB800 for fill (strength was fading :Crunk:)

Very nice shots....I think I need a D200...these shots are just so much better than my D50 ones...of course I would keep the D50 for my wife.

  9. Nice pic of Sterling. We don't see it here. (Others correct me if I am wrong).

It's a starling. We have them in Illinois - many of them. They turn the iridescent color you see in the excellent shot above at this time of year.
Excellent work. I'm considering a beamer myself - would love to hear others' opinions of this device.

Very nice shots. That's a great lens!
  13. Excellent Michael, especially the last shot. Glad to hear that the second 300 F4 worked out for you.
  14. Lovely series indeed! Grrrr...makes me want to own 1!
  15. Glad to see it turned out well. Now I'm curious about Rich's 120-300 findings...
  16. It shipped Monday. I'll post it in the lens lust thread after it arrives. By the way Panos ownes this lens as well. If he sees these post he may jump in.

  17. Thanks Rich. Yes I know, and I hope he'll bring it to the EGT...
