As I mentioned....I sold the 200-400 last week and purchased a 500 AFSII. It's been pouring here but it turned to a steady drizzle today so off I went...500mm in tow.

The wind was blowing 30mph the entire time, it was drizzling heavily and it was real foggy.... and the tripod was resting in a very unstable swamp (I had waders on and froze my butt off). These birds were still a long ways away, but the combination of the D2X, 500 AFSII and TC14EII seemed to have pulled it off OK for their first outing together.

Jim,

I can see the grin from here. :p

For such absolutely crappy conditions (and we have all had to deal with them), these are really good shots. In fact, it would have been hard to do any better.

For this, I hate your guts again....  I was all happy and contented with my H and 300 2.8. Now, you've got me thinking again. :?

Thanks pal. 8)

But Frankie!!!!

Do you really hate me for doing what we'll all inevitably get around to doing?

Do you really?

Now I'm sooo sad :(

I Forgot...

These birds were probably 50' in the air and they were a solid football field if not more away.

Guess I'm gonna have to borrow a TC17EII and try it out (I knew I shouldn't have sold it yet).
