For the first time in over a century a filly wins. Rags to Riches just nosed out Curlin at the finish line. A great day was had by all.

Those are great shots. I can't imagine how you managed to get them exposed and focused so well - unless, of course, you didn't have a wager on the race.

Well done.

Very Nice and impressive to keep the focus and get the timing right (lighting did not seem the best).

I tried some horseback archery shots (please follow my link) and it was difficult to do what you were able to do.

Thank you for sharing!

Here they come spinning out of the turn.... Famous words of an announcer around these parts, Phil Georgeff. Great stuff you have there. Brings back a lot of fond memories of the days spent at the track. Keep them coming.

Thank you for all of the kind words. These were all shot with a Nikon D1h, 80-200 Nikon 2.8 push-pull lens, and a Kenko 1.4x converter at ISO 800.
The old equipment still does a pretty fine job.

Arif...I really enjoyed the horseback archery photos.

P.S. We had her to win. Wish we had bet more.

That race was SOOO exciting to watch!!! As one who trains and competes female dogs in sports dominated by the boys, I picked her to win and was absolutely ECSTATIC that she did. Grrrrl power!!!!!!!!!!

Your shots are excellent, they bring back yesterday's excitement! Thanks for sharing.
