The Blue Train

  1. We rode the Blue Train from Cape Town to Johannesburg, South Africa. It is nearly 1000 miles in about 24 hours. It is a really fancy train:

Pulling into the station to pick us up:

Check out the window in our compartment:

But it is not as big as the huge windows in the rear of the Observation Car:

An unusual design of the connection between the cars allow you to see down through several cars:

The all-important Dining Car  :

Tea time in the Lounge Car was hard to take  , if someone doesn't like chocolate I can handle your share.
(Yes Leigh, it was as good as it looks!)

  4. Wonderful photos. It's nice to see this "decadent opulence" starting to come back. We've been on the "bigger, fgaster, higher, quicker" binge too long!
