My wife and I went with a friend to explore the Bourbon Trail and surrounding areas this past weekend.

I'm not much of a drinker, but I wanted to go just for the potential of photo opportunities.

We hit several distilleries and I'm wanting to share with you!

Stop 1 was at Old Forester Distillery.

We got there before the sun went down, but the image at night was much more impactful. The tour plus tasting cost us around $18 per person.

First stop on the tour was the fermentation tanks. My wife looked good in the golden glow.

My wife was lucky enough to get picked to char a barrel. Old Forester does not use a number system like most other distillers, they use low medium high char. Their normal char is a a medium,

The end of the bottling line, packing into boxes for shipment.

On to the tasting. My favorite was the Old Forester 1910.

Old Forester had my third favorite bourbon on the tour. I'll reveal 1 and 2 after a bit. I plan on adding new posts to this thread for additional distilleries!

We got to Barton too late for a tour, but we did wander the distillery grounds.

The glass to the far right contained Wild Turkey Honey. I did not think I would enjoy it as much as I did. Very sweet, almost desert like. They recommended to freeze it and use it as drizzle on vanilla ice cream.

Buffalo Trace.

Home of my favorite bourbon on the trip - the name sake bottle was my #1 pick!

A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one

My wife and friends love me to go along because I do not drink. I'm the built in designated driver, they are the designated drinkers!! LOL

What a great tour, looks like a very interesting place to visit.

You could probably spend a week in the region and have plenty of distilleries to visit. There is also a lot of other stuff there too, like the Louisville Slugger museum/factory and cool parks.

When everything gets back to normal, I’d like to go back and hit some other distilleries. We were only there for the weekend.
