The chalk artist on Queen Street-number 2

Discussion in 'Photojournalism, Candids and Street Photography' started by rbsinto, Apr 18, 2007.

  1. This is another shot of the chalk artist working on Queen Street, here in Toronto. What attracted me to this particular scene was the contrast between the luminescent glow of the chalk figure he was drawing on the sidewalk, and his face which was in deep shadow because of the very contrasty light. It was as if the artist had no identity other than that given to him by his subject.
    motorized Nikon F2AS
zoom Nikkor 80~200 2.8 ED AIS manual focus
    Fuji Sensia II
    exposure probably 5.6 or f8 @ 1/1000
  2. You are right about that glow coming off the artwork. Overall, the color is great because of the contrast and deep shadows and the composition is dead on. A really excellent shot.
