Seems like a pretty superficial review to me. Granted, it's probably difficult to drone on and on about a product you're not entirely thrilled with, but how many tomes can a single article/review say "...not worth the current price" without being redundant? The images posted certainly show off some of Leica's inherent characteristics (eg the "glow" that beach scene illustrates).
That said, the X100 and the new Lumix ZS10 both look like not only bargains, but better cameras at "...drastically lower cost" (another overly used phrase!).
I would be far more interested in a comparison between the X1, X100, ZS10, and Leica's own new V-Lux. Granted there are some key differences such as fixed focal length vs zoom lenses, but they're all aimed at the upper end P/S with a retro look.
i'd be expecting a fair bit more camera than what's on offer for that price.
you're paying a big premium for that little red dot. i just don't think it's worth it in this case. especially when you look at some of teh Lumix cameras which have the same main attraction as the X-1: a Leica Lens.
