The Day My D70 Died

A long long time ago
I can still remember how those pics used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance that I could make those images dance
and maybe I'd be happy for a while.

But February made me shiver With every click I'd deliver
Bad news on the CF card I couldn't take one more snap

I can't remember if I cried When I saw the ERR message ride
But something touched me deep inside The day my D70 Died

So bye bye Miss D70 Pie
Drove my chevy to the levee
But the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singin' this'll be the day my D70 will die, this'll be the day my D70 will die.

((sigh))

Blinking ERR message every other shot so it's off to the mother ship. Da*n!!

Dang Phil, don't you just hate that. Good story and use of American Pie song.

I sure do, Gordon. It's especially bad happening right after the release of the D2X. I guess I'll have to lock myself or my credit cards in a closet until the D70 returns from repair. heh

The ultimate in frustration was trying to shoot a play last night getting the blinking ERR with shutter lockup every other shot.

Man, oh man Phil. Sorry to hear about your problem. Haven't really heard of that many D70 failures. Hope you get it back soon.

Do you need someone to hold your credit cards??

Thanks, Frank. There have not been very many D70 problems *at all* but there have been many D70s with this particular problem. The fix requires a shutter and circuit replacement. Just my luck.

That might not be a bad idea, Frank, but I think it needs to be someone other than another camera nut -- or my wife -- or my daughter. I'm thinking any of the three would melt the numbers off.

Too bad...

Hi Phil,

It's too bad that your D70 died and the levy was dry. It's good that it's still under warranty so you should have it back in just a short few weeks, just like new! Frustrating? Definitely! But think of it this way: it could have just done the same thing a week after the one year anniversary... and then what? You really could have cried!!

Great job on those lyrics by the way: that gave me a good chuckle.

One week, Philippe? I believe I could have convinced them that week hadn't actually past, especially if I had my hands on them. hehheh

Thanks, Philippe. Gotta find a little humor to balance out the agony, huh.

Now if I can only get that D2X out of my head I'll be golden. :)
