Thanks, Mitchell. You've made an interesting observation. Actually, he and his wife were the hosts for this gathering. His chair was too close to the rail for anyone to be near him.
He is an amazing guy: 88 years old and still active, sails his cabin sailboat and drives his jet-ski on the lake, and does almost all the repairs on his houses. He built that deck rail himself out of PVC pipes. Last summer, as his Covid isolation project, he replaced many of the 99 steps leading from this house down to the lake.
He is a retired Professor of Industrial Engineering and his textbook on Engineering Physiology is still widely used. I feel fortunate to consider him a good friend.
