Great shot. The softness of the lion in that light is wonderful. Reminds me of the Bert Lahr cowardly lion. I live in the Medford NJ area and have been intending to take my newish D300 to the Philly zoo. At present I have the 18-200 and the 50/1.8 (actually The 50/1.8 is out for UPS delivery today). I am filling in my Nikon kit, other than the 70-300VR which is on my to buy list, what other lenses do you find most useful at the zoo?

Thanks to all for your comments.
Taurus: When visiting the zoo, I carry two bodies (D200 and D70s) with 70-300 Vr lens, 50mm 1.8 ( for use inside the reptile house) 24-85 2.8-4. Lion shot was made with D200 and the 70-300mm at iso 400 through a glass partition.

Thanks for the info, the 50/1.8 was delivered today and even with a tear in my hamstring I limped outside and shot, handheld, some very sharp images. By the time I get to the zoo at very least the 70-300VR will be in my lens collection.
