Test shots at Halifax Town Hall, Englandshire of the UK.
A7R and Canon lennys.

They look pretty poor against a white background, so please provide your own black card to block out the screen ;)

What a delightful set! I've missed seeing your work!!!!!

This simply proves that a great photographer can deliver superb images with many different tools!

I went to your website. The images do pop off the black background, but they look stunning above also.

Ohhhh no, you don't!!

Come back here, Mark Sykes, and tell us where you've been and why you've been gone so long! Next, give us your thoughts on the Sony system. Do you like it better than Nikon? And finally...

Outstanding images!!! :D

Thank you all very much. You're all too kind :)

WOW... impressive as always !

Now, tell us Mark, what are the differences between the Sony and the "old" Nikon ?

:)

J-P and Lyndee,
I haven't used Nikon for a long time. The last was the D800 which I heated and made me switch to the Canon 5D MKIII.
The reason I switched from Canon (which I currently still have at the moment) to the Sony, was less weight to carry around and more dynamic range and the extra mega pixies was a bonus.
I lost my photographic mojo, that's why I've been away. For most of the year (any year) I don't take many photos. And if I have too many photos to PP, I just get bored with it all.
Most of my picture taking is in Q3 of the year.

I really like the Sony, although I haven't taken many photos with it yet. I like the size and weight to most and obviously image quality.
I would like the A7RII, but it would be three times the price I paid for the A7R. But, I don't need the extra mega pixies, 4K or image stabilisation.
The worst thing about it, is having to use an adapter. I'm using the Metabones Canon to Sony IV T (you'd obviously have to use Nikon to Sony).
The problem is light flare, even though there is flocking material inside the adapter. It's a bit similar to lens flare, but it appears in large streaks.
I just need to be aware of light sources outside the frame (as they leak into shot) and if necessary block them with a piece of card.

You will LOVE it, Rich ! Very sharp, colorful and the distortion is not extreme (for a fisheye) !

;)

The really wide shots were taken with a Canon 17mm TS-E lens and two shots used and stitched as a mini panorama.

@ Rich Gibson !

Oooops ! My bad ! I've done it again: answering a post without reading what was EXACTLY written in it :( !

I thought you were talking about the new Rokinon/Samyang 12mm. f/2.8 "full frame fisheye", which I bought recently !
