Yer F5 rocks Frankier, but I am afraid that I do not recognize the members of your lens trinity. What are they?

Chris they are the 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5 (poor man 17-35), the 35-70 f/2.8, and the 70-200 f/2.8 VR1.

The major savings clearly happen for the first two (instead of a 17-35 and a 28-70 or 24-70). I love the 35-70 and just getting familiar with the recently acquired 18-35.

Vignetting on the 70-200 is there, but it doesn't bother me as I don't shoot professionally. I can use the three lenses on my other film cameras (with the exception of the F2 (any) and the FM2n (the 70-200, but replaceable by the 180 2.8 AIs). This is a good trinity my D200 as well where if I need/want to go wider than 18 I use my Sigma 10-20. Should I find some money for a D700 or D800, I think I am ok as well.

And yes, the F5 is just lustful...

The F-5 is supreme. I'm still in mourning over Kodachromes demise. I take my F-5 out once in a while and dry fire it. Don't tell anyone..............

Stick some Portra 160 in it. 400 is cool, too.
