And you should be proud! This is a really great image and knowing the story behind it makes even more special. I have (am) enjoying your eagle series and am happy for you!

The wing position, the downward stare, the surroundings and the touch of pines in the bottom of the frame all combine for a great story and a first class image!

Great job Gary...glad you were able to capture the first flight!
  14. Well Gary I am happy to see you got the photo you were looking for. I don't think it's as good as your others but it does the job of recording a date and time of a part of both yours and this young eagles life. Congrats on this. I also am sending this link in case you would like to get involved with the NWF Newsletter for all info on our wildlife

I offer one suggestion that would make all of us eagle lovers happy and that is to substitute the word shoot with the word photo as it sounds so much nicer to hear as you read outloud..:biggrin:

Great, um, photo, Gary! Nice shot!

Tell us how the rest of the chick's first flying adventure turned out? Did she flap around on the ground for a while and then expertly fly back up to her branch and preen? Has she found flying up as easy as flying down? Have any photos of her trying to break the pull of gravity in order to take off?

You must have more photos. Are you holding out on us?

Awesome shot. Just in the right moment.
  18. Thanks Dave

I'm not sure this was her first flight but it was the first I had witnessed.
  19. Thanks Lou

I have only admiration for the bird and please don't judge 5 months work by one photo.

  20. I have over 5000 photos of this Eagle family most have never been converted from RAW.
