Never owned a Sigma lens but have enjoyed looking through this thread.

Hi Gordon. Sigma's new range of lenses especially the Art and Sports rainge are fabolous. The glass and build quality are in some cases better than Nikons. Now in saying all that I got the Nikon 300mm PF lens and it is excellent.

Love all the bird shots Mike! Looks like a superb lens. jt

Thank you Sir. The lens is a very versatile one going from 105 to 600mm. I use it mostly on a tripod but can be handheld for shorter periods. As you can see the lens is very sharp and has excellent weather sealing. I would have no problem recommending it to anyone.

Just acquired an 800mm/5.6 to go with several other Sigma lenses I have. Last weekend was the first outing with it, looking forward to many more though tracking BIF will be a challenge compared to my 200-500 :). Anyways, here's a fun one from Saturday at the Gilbert Riparian Preserve/Water Ranch, D7200 ISO 2000, 1/3200.

Hey, fantastic to see you back in these threads! All of your stuff is high quality--you've had this Siggy lens for quite sometime if I remember correctly--right. :) jt

Thank you, I pop in once in a while. I had it, then I didn't, now I have it again.

It's mounted on my D3200 as a nice light compact setup. Amazing lens.

Agreed--it's a beauty and one of those key pieces of glass which helped make the rise of Sigma possible. Back when that lens was made, many APS-c people were searching for a fast, "normalish" lens for their crop sensors--this lens perfectly filled that niche. It's amazing how far Sigma has come since then too. Hope we see more of you around the Cafe! Best, jt

The more I shoot with the Sigma 15-30mm EX DG, the more I'm impressed at how well this lens holds up for a discontinued FF lens from 2001! Very minimal distortion, little vignetting and fairly sharp corners! The only full frame DSLRs available at the time was the Canon 1DS and Kodak DCS Pro 14N which came out later in 2002. Nikon didn't even have FF until the D3 in 2007!

A couple shots from the D750 and Sigma 15-30mm EX DG:
