The Wright Brothers Memorial

You have to wonder what Wilbur and Orville would make of plane travel today!

The last shot is the field that marks the extent of their first powered flight. Taken from the hill that they first used as a take off point for their gliding flights and is now the home to the monument.

You have to wonder what Wilbur and Orville would make of plane travel today!

Although the size, speed, and complexity have advanced a great deal, the key thing that the Wright Brothers contributed to aviation remains: Control. Once Orville and Wilbur Wright solved that problem, the sky was the limit. And then, even that limit was surpassed.

I like the symmetry as well as the texture of the sky in #1.

Good timing on your part, BTW - posting these photos commemorating the dawn of controlled flight on the day of the Apollo XI launch!
