With an internal motor for you D40/D40x/D60 folks
I honestly don't think I've ever AF'ed this lens.
autofocusing it sucks the life out of my battery with the D200
everything sucks the life out of the battery of the d200 ..lol
Gotta love that CCD power consumption!
but sure love it's iso 100 IQ .....;-)))
That's why I'm keeping the D2X. Is it just me or does Nikon skip 100 ISO every other generation? The D1X/D100 didn't really have it, D2X/D200 had it, now the D3/D300 don't have it?
I'm seriously thinking about getting the current version as it has a $90 rebate. Has anyone found the expected price for the new one?
I have a D50, which has a slow motor, but like others said, maybe AF is not as important with macro shooting.
My other concern is that this lens is only 2.8 at 10feet to infinity. How is this spec compared to the Nikon 105?
Any advice about the new vs old on a D50?
I can't comment on the 105 VR, but I shot the 105 this weekend. It dropped to f/3 (not f/3.2) just inside of infinity and stayed there until I was uncomfortably close for portrait use.
i don't get it either..i really dig 100iso and the ccd chip...;-)
i have the latest DI 2.8 without the afs motor and utterly dig it!
..can't beat it for $350 bucks..;-)
scared me. I'm guessing the one I got a few months back for the d300 is still the newest one. Yes the 90$ rebate came. Nope I never autofocus it.
thanks for feedback guys
