Lovely scene Steve. I knew a kind gentleman named Hank Pennington from Kodiak who passed away earlier this year. He lived there for many decades. Always loved to hear about Alaska from him.

We got around 6 inches. It came down heavy enough to cause the small lake in front of us to freeze.

Some of us believe that winter is the best time in Alaska. It can last a long time here in the mountains of the Alaska Range. A few years ago we got 4 feet of new snow on May 24. That was a strange time, as birds in migration fell out of the sky and landed on the frozen lake in front of our house. We had a couple hundred sparrows, snow buntings, Bohemian Waxwings, and others for a few days. I realized they were starving, so I threw 50 pounds of black sunflower seed by the handfuls to them. When the storm broke, they went on their way.
