I wish Nikon would standardize CF card orientation.

Lexar Professional 800x 32GB card. Ejected it and couldn't get it back in more than a quarter inch. Could feel it hang up on the right side (camera bottom.) Quadruple checked the orientation of the card. Tried with another card too. Luckily I didn't try to force it. Stared at the card and the slot for awhile (the width of the guides is different on each side. Stared at the yellow sticker.

The D3 and D800 CF slots are oppositely oriented and I'd used the D3 last.

Yeah, I noticed that too when I first got my D800. I was so used to doing the card change on the D3 without looking. It was an eye opener when I got the D800. The good thing is before I got my D800 I learned how to feel the difference between the card orientation without looking. Even if I got it wrong, I never applied anything other than a feather's weight of force on it. Never bent a pin or had any other problems with either camera.

I always forget which way it inserts, so I just use the CF card as backup and never take it out.
