Timing for Ricketts Glen/Watkins Glen?

I'm making a trip down to New Jersey around Saturday, September 12, and was thinking of including a sidetrip (or two) to either Ricketts Glen (PA) or Watkins Glen State Park (NY), or both.

Of course, I'm primarily interested in shooting the waterfalls. I'm wondering whether or not those dates (immediately before or after Sept 12) are good with regard to waterflow and/or even fall colors, or whether its too early?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks.

My buddy and I were at Watkins Glen 2nd week in Oct last year. Waterflow was outstanding due to 3" rainfall the day we arrived. Leaves were a little past peak then, but plenty of color in the falls. One of my Watkins Glen photos recently won Best of Show photo.

I usually use The Weather Channel Fall Foliage charts to try and predict Fall colors. They have been pretty accurate so far. You might be early for peak?
But last year they did peak early.
