I have had a one attempt of shooting fireworks with a D200 but I have recently upgraded to a D3. My attempts with the D200 were feeble and hit or miss. Are there any guidelines to go by?
  2. there have been many threads in the past 24 hours discussing this very issue

    - tripod mounted
    - ISO at 200
    - f/9
    - BULB setting
    - cable or other remote shutter release
    - 5-15 second exposures IF sky it PITCH BLACK
    - chimp a lot and adjust your SHUTTER TIME, accordingly

    good luck

I always set my lens to infinity as well.
  4. Press release when mortar fires ,release when it shows. F8 or 9 is fine. Experiment with shutter times. Remember your working with BRIGHT burning chemicals.A shutter release is a must for control.
