  2. watch the histogram & set ev accordingly
faces on 2 are a little soft
focus on the eyes of whoever is closest and dof will get the other(s)

i think the soft faces was a result of resizing. Looking at the original in Aperture the faces look much sharper.
However, I quickly noticed that the 70-200VR has a surprisingly narrow DOF at f/2.8. It will sneak up on you if you aren't careful.

If you guys were shooting these kind of setting, what aperture would you try to use with the 70-200VR?

How about aperture? What f-stop would you guys recommend with the 70-200 when doing portraits of groups of people, 3-4? Would this answer change much if they were in two rows rather than standing next to eachother?

I'd probably start with f/8 with two rows and stop down from there if you don't have everyone in focus.

This loupe will solve the LCD washout in the sun completely!

Highly recommend. It hangs around your neck (weighs next to nothing). Hold it up to the LCD - exact size for D2X./S, D200. Blocks all sun, you get a highly detailed image from your LCD in full sun!!! Wife and I each shoot carrying this 100% of the time.
