I just got this lens used for my D610. When I set it up on the camera for aperture priority and set it to f 2.8 when I focus on a subject the camera setting changes to the next f stop.
Am I Missing something? Or is the lens defected?
Any help will be appeached.

All the macro lenses I own reduce the amount light when focused closely - it's the physics. I think my Nikon 105/2.8 goes to around f4.5 when at 1:1. My 200/4 goes to around 5.6, etc.

Nothing deceptive or defective.
