Something about that picture of the man petting the dog just stands out for me. Maybe because it looks like the dog is so happy to have some attention. And the man looks happy to give it.

The series of pictures is quite good. Some are amazing. But like you, I was taken with that photo near the end of the group, with the man scratching the dog and the dog grinning as he enjoys the attention. Amidst so much destruction, a moment of normalcy and just trying to feel good again.

I love that one too, the dog's expression is priceless.

There's a lot of technique in those photos, which sometimes I don't like in this kind of journalism, but it still works for me, powerful stuff.
