Tracing a NZ scammer - to California[?]

Lisa recently contacted someone selling poodle pups, things got suspicious when they said they had 'just moved', since their location was apparently our town, and could "ship the dog for a few hundred extra". The price was
already "too good to be true". So we told them we
wouldn't be handing any money over without seeing the dog.
That was a month ago, we saw the ad go up with exactly the same description last night so I sent them an email since they don't know me [yet]. I received the same reply that she did and amazingly the dog is still 10 weeks
and 3 days old after a month! I have reported it as a scam and just for interest decided to see if I could track down their address. The email coolpat236@gmail.com yields the IP address 74.125.195.27 which according to opentracker.net is somewhere in California
Would that be correct?

74.125.195.27 is Google's IP address. Not the individual's IP address.
Ok, maybe this will help:

talking to these folks. did they name one of them Cindy? These puppy scams are all over the place, very common.

Hi Desmond,

I appreciate your interest in our little boy Mi, he is a very sweet puppy who loves attention, loves to play with his toys, he will make a great pet for someone who wants to be loved by a very smart dog and he is going to be very loyal to his owner. He is well tamed, alert, energetic, tenacious, responsive, intelligent, potty trained with a good temperament and he will be fast to bond with his new family and easily get along with other pets. He is 10 weeks 3days old currently on shots, vet check, registration papers and microchip.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS!!!
Getting a good home for him is the most essential thing we have ever wanted. So i have some few questions for you which I hope you get back to me with the answers sincerely. I just want to make sure that he is getting into the right home. Hope you don't mind?

*How old are you?
*Do you have any house pet's ?
*Do you have any experience in this breed type of puppy ?
*Where about are you located
*How soon do you need him ?
*have you ever had a pet ship?
*Are you willing to have this one ship?
*What more can we know concerning your love for Puppies? ?
*When you get the little baby will you be able to send us Pictures at your convenience so that we know how they are doing?

We are sorry for the questions, it's just that we prefer a caring family, as the answers would help us to know if your home would be the best place for him as all we need is just a new loving and caring home for the baby.

Thanks for your quick response.

Desmond, it’s looking like these people run more than one puppy scam. I’m in communication with the same person on two puppies, a poodle and a pug. The pug scam is pretty elaborate. Amazingly both are 10 weeks old.

Unless it were an extremely rare breed and there were few breeders around the country, I would never purchase a puppy without actually seeing and holding it, seeing at least the mother if not both parents (especially if championship lines were involved), the environment in which it had been raised, etc. Desmond, definitely you were right to become suspicious when this particular "breeder" informed you that they had "just moved" from your area and therefore this would be a situation of the customer paying for the puppy sight unseen and having it shipped. Sure sounds like a scam to me!

In the early days of the internet I somehow got onto a remarkable Russian mailing list.
As well as detailed price lists for a huge range of military equipment, they had bulk offers on Russian women. They were available in batches of 100 and would be delivered at the docks, with payment only due on delivery.
The awful thing was that it clearly was not a scam.

Interesting story - one of my old workmates told me how a friend of his 'downloaded' a Russian bride. They didn't get on at all and one of his mates said that he liked her and would marry her. He replied that she had cost him $12000 to 'import' and agreed to hand her over for $12000. So the 'transaction was concluded and "they lived happily every after".
