Tried some dragonfly in flight shots

I've got lots of room for improvement, but this is the best I got. I need to start packing my flash, as I imagine that would would improve things. But I don't know how my flash will work with the 200-500. I imagine it will cast a shadow. Anyway, here they are.

Those are all nice tries. I’ve tried to do this too, but can’t even get one in the frame.

Dan, you've tried the most difficult exercise ever.
They change their direction that fast, you've normally got no chance to shoot.

I realized that they are curious and are standing still in the air in front of the lens.
Mostly the distance is to close to shoot...

Those are all nice tries. I’ve tried to do this too, but can’t even get one in the frame.

Thank you. It is challenging. I noticed a couple seemed to return to the same area so I concentrated on that area instead of trying to follow them around. I still wasn’t sure I had any worth keeping.

Yes, I had to back up in order to get outside the minimum focus distance of my 200-500. But these guys seemed to ignore me. They just had an area they liked and I would wait for them to return to it. But even then, they only stayed a second. I’m sure others can do better, but I’ll keep trying.
