To be there would be reflective and emotional.
How can it be that there are those that claimed it never happened.

Great images, very evocative.

I was there a few years ago, I still remember the sense of evil that seemed to remain there - almost like a bad smell. The only other place that even comes close (in my experience) is Culloden battlefield near Inverness, in northern Scotland.

I was there in 1984. The absolute worst images of the entire camp were the photographic reproductions of the official documents detailing the workings of the camps. At the time there were no translations, is that still the case? The photos of camp misery, awful as they are, pale against the ruthless cynicism and efficiency revealed in the documents. How anyone can claim this did not happen is bizarre.

I too have been there, as a GI in the Seventies. Also visited the Czech border when the Iron curtain was still in place. Both in my memories forever. The Human Race has issues! Thanks for sharing and reminding.
