Nice one Nute - the 85 1.4 so fits your style - you're probably going to take us to school on it's use when you get the hang of it.

very nice! Beautiful girls. I'll definitely be picking up an 85 eventually, but probably the 1.8 to start off with.

  6. Lovely image Nute! Welcome to the 85/1.4 club, you will do very well with it.

  7. You're off to a great start...

So inquiring minds want to know... is it that ($$$) much better than the 1.8?

...this glass hasa signature like none i've played with (simular to the 28-70) thus far,,gosh, what took me so long?

Its quite a chunk of change one drops for that lens and such commitments are never easy for many of us. Fortunately, the Nikkor 85/1.4 truly delivers the goods and makes the financial bite easier to live with.

Methinks you and that lens will become quite inseparable! Congratulations, Nuteshack.

Chunk of change for sure! The good news is your profile signature will be shrinking to finance it!

Man ..I really want an 85 1.4 :Depressed

  15. Nice picture! Nice bokeh, great smiles and beautiful girls

Maybe I would try to push the WB a bit to warmer tones. Just to see whether I would like it better.

  16. I thought I posted to this earlier but must have not waited for it to take. In any event it is a really cute picture of your daughters. Good use of DOF and nice smiles on these to lovely young ladies.

Hmmmm....I don't think it's *that* obvious at all. Beautiful capture and about as IF as you're gonna get wide open with this lens.
Congrats on the 85.......it's a phenomenal lens and my second most used piece of glass.
You'll put it to great use.
