I am trying to understand the camera. The D7200 is a lot more forgiving and the DX sensor behaves differently.
This is my first FX sensor and things do not end up the way I expected, especially at night.
But that is entirely up to me to adapt and relearn the basics and practice.
I really really like the handling of it and the body.
It is the real thing, so is the optical viewer.
An absolute delight and so much fun.
As fun to use as film cameras.

After the introduction of the D3 Nikon introduced the D700 in July 2008. Both cameras share the same sensor and many professionals began to use the D700 instead of the D3 because of the smaller size.
It has been one of the most popular cameras made by Nikon and till recently it kept a high price. The D700 is a 12 Mp. full frame camera.
Many wedding photographers adopted the D700 when it was introduced. I had a brief encounter with one of them and I thought the camera was a great tool.
Learn your camera well. It should give you some very good years of service.

I got a D700 when they were the current body back in 2009, and still have & use it all the time. :)
I find that the D700 still produces superb images even in this day of high Mp sensors, and have no intentions to either sell or retire this gem of a camera anytime soon… (y)

More test shots from today.
I am impressed at how good the AF tracking is of the plane and helicopter through the branches.
The colour rendering is excellent in daylight too.
It does not seem to miss a single beat.
I was walking around and not paying too much attention to composition this time around. Nice set.

D700 is still my only full-frame and my main architecture camera, since 2009.

it is still a great camera and do not plan on upgrading as it is still doing well.

I am impressed as to how it is a lot more reliable than the excellent D7200.

I still have my D700 that I purchased in 2009. It was a very expensive purchase then compared to what I paid for my D750 and D500 bodies in the past two years. Family photos and Landscapes paired with some good Nikon Glass the D700 is still a great Camera in my collection.
