Just testing out my new SB-900 this morning, and tried the Nute method of f/1.4 85mm on the D3. Man, you guys are good. And I'm pretty happy with the SB900 so far.

Interesting - I think Randy.s advice is very good for dogs - but you are doing good, Mike.

#1 is why i AF on the tip of the nose and not the eyes when shooting long nosed dogs at 1.4
i like #2

Yeah, I was just trying the razor-thin look. I don't wanna intrude on anyone's trademark (plus it's difficult lol)

Yeah, I remember those Randy. Cool snozz shots.

I'm liking the flash. Love the new UI, but I don't really work with flash enough to say how one is better than the other. Usually just for fill, or for basic winners' circle pics.

Flash pics of dogs

That black/brown one is nice shot. Reminds me a little of my Lab/Pit Bull mix female that weighs 105 lbs. I have had more success shooting my pets since I got my SB-400 flash and can bounce it.
