I had a very difficult time taking a photo of this turtle. Even thought I was a distance away everytime I tried to set up my tripod so I could use my 500mm lens in dove into the water. I finally sat in my truck for 20 minutes before it crawled up on its log again. I had to shoot it thru the open truck window.
Without the trripod it was hard to focus and hold steady. This guy does have some nasty looking claws. I will go back and get a good shot of him.

We have turtles near us, Jim, and I have the same problem. They are extremely sensitive to people and very hard to sneak up on. Nice shot!

Hi Dossy
Thanks for the comp on the photo. I agree that turtles are very spooky when its comes to people. Someone suggested going early in the morning because the turtle is cold from the night and is more likely to stay on its log to soak up the morning sun. Me and this turtle are not done with one another yet !!
