Two Lucky Lightning Shots (updated)

There was a nice thunder storm last night and I was able to get this lucky shot off my balcony of the George Washington Bridge. Technique was 'brute force' . All I did was set my camera on a tripod, iso 200, 5 sec, f/5, raw, and locked the camera for continuous exposures with a mc30 wired remote. After 300 frames, I culled the images with lighting strikes and this was the best one.

QED = quite easily done :)

Hi Sanford504, Nuccifamily, Dez, Jadlh, Williadw1955, Gramps, Phil K, PLPhoto, Anthony747, Mood, Spalding12, and Dmwphoto,

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Lightning storms are so very cool. Now all I have to do is get a good shot of a storm over Manhattan :)

I just added another shot from last night. It has a little more detail in the foreground.

Thanks again

Very, very nice, rfc!

I was thinking about taking some shots myself last night during the t'storm, but it was raining too hard in Midtown to put the camera outside.

Hi Kpstatz,
Thanks for the comments. Luckily I have a high roof above my balcony :)

great job

Thanks Licaga

love that 2nd one, as well
a lot

Thanks Greg
I like the second one, it seems a bit more balanced to my eyes. Nice catch!

Thank you ddietiker. I agree, the second image has more complexity and is better balanced than the first. The first image has the nicer bolt of lighting.

So, here is a little photoshop composite of the two images :)
