Two More from Toronto Cafe Shoot

Discussion in 'Birds' started by Markb, Jun 13, 2007.

  1. Here are two more from the Toronto Cafe shoot at Mountsberg. (I'm working on a butterfly pic or two for the animals and critters forum as well.

    First, a contemplative red-tailed hawk:

    San Jose Ca.
Very nice, sharp images with great background.
  3. Mark Is this a rehab center as I see Jesses on the owls legs? Both have nice detail.
  4. Great details, Mark. Good shots, esp the owl.

Lou, this is a raptor rescue centre which either rehabilitates injured raptors for release into the wild, or if they are permanently injured or human-imprinted, they stay at the centre for educational purposes. The centre stresses in classes for children to NOT take animals from the nest and take them home as pets, otherwise they won't survive. One of our new members, Kevin, works there and we recruited him. He's a wealth of avian information!

  5. Thank you Sandi.

Lou, Sandi answered correctly. For example, one of the Turkey Vultures had been hit by a car before arriving at Mountsbert.

However, it is a fairly large area, and the lake has a nesting osprey and there are other wild raptors that can be found in and around Mountsbrg.

Very nice shots Mark. Beautiful animals too. It's good that they have a safe place.
