Uninstalling WD Smartware...

Unfortunately, you can't uninstall WD Smartware because it's part of the drive firmware. However, you can disable it using the WD Smartware configuration, as described on the WD Knowledge Base How to remove (disable/hide) WD Smartware Virtual CD (VCD) page. Select the operating system and scroll down to the section for disabling the VCD.

I have three 500GB WD Passport drives for my MBP when I travel. I reformatted each and use SuperDuper to make bootable backups of the MBP after each card download. You must use the USB port to make changes to the firmware, but I use the FW800 port for the backup.

I juts formatted the HD new and it was gone ...
Hmm... I am pretty sure I formatted all the drives when I first opened them and before using them...But it didn't get rid of it.
