See if this makes any sense. I'm not a Z owner but saw this.

Not a Z owner, but I understand that the 50 1.8 lens must be mounted for the upgrade to work.

How do you update firmware for a lens?

TL;DR: Update the firmware just like you do for camera, but make sure lens is attached.

Under the "Updating the Lens Firmware" heading (click the "+") you will find instructions.
