In the past when updating PS I had to reconfigure my plugins, i.e. Topaz, NiK & ON1 so that they would show up under the filters tab, wondering if this is still true with updating the latest version of PS?
Thank you Mike. I want to update PS mainly due to the new Content Aware Fill function. I'll update this thread when I do stating what I encountered.I've been using Photoshop CC for a couple of years and it has always updated regularly without me having to do anything with my Nik plug-ins. I don't use any other plug-ins.
My guess is that the old Nik filters install to the old location. So you will have the same need to reinstall them in future at each update. You're probably right Mike, plus I'm not sure if the DxO version of NIK Filters would have made any difference either.
Thanks
That has been my experience ..My guess is that the old Nik filters install to the old location. So you will have the same need to reinstall them in future at each update.
Considering how often Photoshop CC is updated, if I had to reinstall the old Nik filters each time that happens, it would be well worth the cost for me to buy a license for the DxO Nik filters. Doing so would avoid the hassle of having to reinstall them every time Photoshop CC updates and would provide the new presets DxO has added since taking over the product.
I have had the opposite experience. I only had to redirect the old Nik once a few years ago. Since then it has been automatic. That has been my experience ..
Or it could just be the difference between the small upgrades where the file locations remain unchanged, and the major (usually annual) upgrades where they change.I wonder if the different experiences between Dave and Bohdan has to do with a difference in operating systems.
Thats what I ended up doing..Good exchange and I appreciate it. Given the frequent upgrades to PS, as has been mentioned, it would probably make a lot of sense to purchase the DxO version of NIK filters and have it done with. The DxO software has some added benefits of scalability with a 4K monitor on some of the filters.
Thanks.
It has been a good three of more years since the change took place. When was the last major upgrade?Or it could just be the difference between the small upgrades where the file locations remain unchanged, and the major (usually annual) upgrades where they change.
