I think the factory demos are ones sent out for reviews and such. I bought an Olympus Pen factor demo and it was in brand new condition.

Store room demo?.... RUN!

This seems very interesting as far as Nikon goes. Have they ever cleared out stock of a camera before an announcement? 50% mark down is huge. I wish I could have waited, but I just spent the last 5 days making some amazing images with my V1, so I can't say that I am too dissapointed.

It has its quirks, but I love this camera.

I had that and would not recommend it to anybody even at $300. The V1 is much better, even with the smaller sensor.
